Why Jesus Spoke in Parables

Jesus came to save all mankind. Yet we see He tried to hide information from some so they couldn't understand and be converted. Why would He conceal from some people and say to others, "It is given to you to know and to understand"? The parables of Jesus are messages for the Church.
